Pace for Peace 5K
Michelle and I, along with our friends (Aisa and Rochelle participated in a 5K today. This was a first for Michelle, Aisa, and myself. There were nearly fifty people who turned out for the event. It was for domestic violence awareness, sponsored by the Family Violence Prevention Center of Greene County.
Anyone who knows me realizes that I am not in the kind of shape that I was 15 years ago, but I was not disappointed with my day. Michelle and I stayed together and ran nearly 2/3 of the 5K (which would be about 2 out of 3 miles). That is pretty good for us. In fact, it was good enough for Michelle to get a second place award for her age group. (Pretty cool!)
There is something about running that I just don't get from any other workout. Some call it a "runner's high" others refer to it as exhilarating. Regardless, I felt really energized after the run.
I think I could get into doing more 5K's. It is nice to do something good for yourself (exercise) while doing something good for others (raising funds and awareness for their cause).
All in all, it was a great way to start the day. Now I have to focus on a lesson for 3rd Place for tomorrow night and a final for my last class at CCU
